While some people go into first dates with a calm and collected appearance, most of the time, we see it as a nerve-wracking activity. There isn’t one way to keep your cool before the next time you’re on the way to meet someone new, but there are a few ways you can help better yourself for a date!
Shift Your Mindset: Instead of considering it a "date," reframe it as a casual meeting. While you still get to know the person and assess if they are checking off your boxes, this reduces pressure and allows you to focus on getting to know someone rather than putting pressure on them to be the ideal partner.
Prepare, Don’t Overthink: While thinking of conversation topics prior can help the date flow, it is so important to not over plan and overcalculate what you want to say. Being present will show you if you are compatible because it lets you see how the conversation can flow without a script.
Lower Your Expectations: Classic reminder not to assume they are the one every time (even if they are!). It is much easier to remind yourself that one bad first date is not the end of the world and will not cement every love interest you pursue.
RELAX: If you need a moment to breathe in the car before you walk in, do it. The best thing you can do is go in with the clearest possible mind. You got this!
